Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT)

SAAT is short for Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment. It is a newly introduced technique that provides long-term relief from allergy symptoms in comparison to western solutions.

The Allergy Dilemma

There’s no denying it; allergies are an all-too-common affliction these days. Whether it’s from seasonal molds and pollens, or indoor dust and pet dander, many of us suffer from stuffy noses, itchy throats, and watery eyes from time to time, ranging from mild to unbearable.

Whatever the case is, there should be an effective way to treat allergies at their root rather than masking them with over-the-counter prescriptions year after year. This is where SAAT comes into play.

SAAT: The History

Dr. Soliman has spent many years of clinical trials as a pioneer in auricular therapy, proving Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment (SAAT) is a safe, simple, and effective method of reducing allergy and sensitivity symptoms. Over a decade of SAAT protocol and notes, Nader Soliman, M.D. found that his SAAT technique helped to eliminate allergies and thousands of people have been treated with this specialized form of ear acupuncture. During this time, Dr. Soliman found that no recurrence of the same allergy was reported except for hormonal fluctuations due to puberty, pregnancy, and menopause.

The ear is interconnected to the brain in neurological embryological, and electromagnetic ways; this SAAT treatment can help trigger the body to help an allergy or a sensitivity naturally recede. This auricular (ear) acupuncture treatment is basically painless and is medically accepted by the World Health Organization. “SAAT treatment has been effective for the large majority of patients and showed no adverse reactions,” according to a study published in a Medical Acupuncture Journal.

The Basics

SAAT is a proven form of allergy treatment implementing auricular acupuncture and the use of one, 3mm, hair-thin needle placed into the skin of the outer to treat a singular allergy or sensitivity.

Typically, one to three treatments are needed, and the treatment is simple, economical, and has no known side effects. It involves the placement of one hair-thin needle into the ear that is left in place for a course of 3-4 weeks. SAAT has the highest success rate for providing the longest relief compared to any other allergy treatment with this technique seeing allergy symptom reduction by as much as 80-95%.

The Process

Initial Consultation

An hour-long virtual appointment will be held prior to treatment to discuss the patient's health history. This comprehensive intake is essential to treatment in order to uncover any nutritional or environmental factors that may be contributing to your allergy.

Allergy Testing

If you have a previously identified allergen through blood testing or an elimination diet, we will confirm that allergy through in-office bio-energetic testing and/or VAS. If you suspect you have an allergy but have not yet identified the culprit, we can assist through bio-energetic testing, the use of a food journal, or an elimination diet - just let us know ahead of time!

Bio-energetic Testing

Every patient will be checked for mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), histamine, metals, and adhesives prior to receiving a SAAT treatment. If no allergy is detected, treatment will begin that day. For patients whose in-office testing indicates that they are allergic to stainless steel or to the adhesives used to secure the needles to the ear, we will start you on a homeopathic remedy for a course of 6-8 weeks.

Treatment

Each allergen is associated with a specific reactive point in the ear. Once identified, a single intradermal needle will be placed in the ear per allergen (3-4 allergens can be treated at once). The needle(s) will be covered with adhesive tape and worn for 3-4 weeks. It is important that the patient avoids exposure to the allergies being treated during this time. The treated ear must also be kept dry for the duration of treatment. It is also important to note that the reintroduction of allergens must be managed systematically with your acupuncturist.

Follow-up

At the completion of your 3-4 weeks, we will retest you. If symptoms persist, it is likely due to an unidentified allergy. It is extremely important to keep in mind that the success of your treatment depends on identifying all food or environmental allergies that you may have. Results of treatment are specific to the individual and can take time depending on the scope and severity of your allergies. Commitment and patience will be necessary for success.

Alpha-Gal Spotlight

SAAT is successful in the treatment of many food and environmental allergies, but one allergen has caught the eye of SAAT practitioners – Alpha-gal. The alpha-gal allergy is notoriously hard to treat with many sufferers never finding relief.

The Alpha-Gal Allergy is thought to be transmitted through a bite from the Lone Star tick, which then passes a sugar molecule called alpha-gal into the body, which produces a food allergy to red meat.

Alpha-gal Syndrome presents in the following ways:

Swelling of the lips, face, tongue, throat, or other body parts
Wheezing or shortness of breath
Runny nose
Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or sneezing
